Unexpected Lessons from Energy Healing School

David T.

When I went into spiritual healing school, I was expecting to learn how to heal others, what I discovered was that in the process, I healed myself. One of the most important things I learned was about relationships. We all have them, like it or not, with everything we encounter. While our relationships with food might not be as complex as our relationship with ourselves, it is nonetheless a relationship. We learn a lot from our cultures about how to view interpersonal, especially romantic, relationships. There are rules, guidelines, regulations even, set forth regarding the way we might interact with others. Energy healing school taught me that in order to see a relationship fully, you have to be able to look past what you've learned to be part of your relationship, and see that which is manifesting out of personal experience, unhindered by society's teachings.

The soul is often a driving force in the way we form relationships, as well as why we form them in the first place. The main goal of the soul is to resolve our conflicts, to end unhealthy patterns in our lives, and bring us into a state of unconditional love and light. Sounds a bit cheesy, right? Still, that is absolute truth. The reason we aren't all already there is because the soul must work through the personality--it cannot override our mind and take us over--we must allow it to come forth. Our minds are littered with anxieties and concerned with safety far more than they are dedicated to the possibility (or inevitability) that change can do us good. It is the higher self that knows that opportunity awaits us just as soon as we are willing to let go and move into the unknown.

In spiritual energy healing these issues also come bubbling up to the surface. I have seen people who realize that they have stayed in a relationship for years, and while they have sometimes struggled with that choice, they always were able to rationalize staying, only to realize that their soul's desire had been to move on. This inner struggle had caused them a great deal of pain which had laid its roots not only in the emotional body, but in the physical body as well. It can be a very intense healing process for the body, mind and soul when such situations arise.

How often have you looked back at a relationship and been at complete peace with the fact that it ended? This is not just the grace of passed time, but also the awareness of the soul that you learned what you needed to there, and that it was right to move on. At the time, the anguish might have been unbearable, and it was your personality, your mind that suffered, not your soul. For me personally, learning all of this was like turning the lights on in a dark house. I was able to see myself in the context of my relationships and I finally felt at peace with all that had come before and felt ready to experience the next step.
