Is your Ipod safe or could it give you tinnitus?

John Currie

Is your Ipod safe or might it give you tinnitus?
It's no coincidence that young people often suffer from tinnitus: Ipods are a significant contributor to the ailment.
Recent technological developments allow people, especially those of the younger generation, to listen to hours of their favorite music anywhere.
More and more young people are suffering from ringing in the ears as MP3 players have proliferated recently. In a study group of people less than 40 years of age, over 70% of the participants reported MP3 usage as the most likely cause of ringing of the ears.
In addition, all but about 10% of tinnitus is caused by listening to loud sounds.
If we know how to use our Ipods properly, the correlation between Ipods and tinnitus would've been less. It is important to realize that it is our lack of responsible use of the Ipods that causes the condition, not the device itself.
We must know how to use such a gadget the right way. We mean that a safe level is using only 60% of the IPod's volume allotment. In addition, you should not listen to music on an IPod for longer than one hour.
The small hairs of the inner ear are easily damaged if exposed to loud or lengthy sound vibrations.
Be careful, because there is no way to duplicate or replace these hairs. This can cause deafness or at the very least, ringing ears. This may also mean that you won't be able to listen to music on an iPod any more. You won't be happy if this happens, will you?
Don't get too excited about a device that means you can listen to your favorite music at anytime. It's fine to keep using your MP3 player, but be sure to use common sense. If the person standing next to you can hear what's coming through your earphones, it's a clear sign that you're not practicing safe listening.
Those who like to go to concerts are in the same boat. Sitting too close or remaining too long next to speakers blaring loud music might create ringing of the ears or cause hearing loss. Please remember the correlation between Ipods and tinnitus discussed in this article as you turn on your Ipod.
